SweetDEV Studio is an Eclipse-based Web Integrated Development Environnement Web designs for creating sophisticated web and enterprise applications. It comes fully equipped with powerful visual programming tools that being integrated with Eclipse provide you with the full set of capabilities you need. SweetDEV Studio supports and guides developers for both existing and new Web applications.

SweetDEV Studio provides the most advanced Java Server Page (JSP) editor available in the market today. It provides a professional JSP source editor, as well as a WYSIWYG visual JSP editor. This makes a powerful companion for developing JSP pages, whether existing or new. SweetDEV Studio has the unique ability to let you develop your JSP file at either source or visual level - at the same time. This combination is the most efficient way to edit complex pages. Select an element of the page in the Design Pane, and the Source Pane will immediately locate the matching source line. Simply edit the source code and the visual display of the page will update within moments of your latest changes. Or, use drag and drop visual editing in the design pane to add something to your page and the source will immediately update accordingly.

Please note that the SweetDEV Studio JSP Editor respects the desire of professional developers and strictly limits any code generation to the very specific item in the page you are editing, and avoids reformatting. All editing is done in a non-destructive manner, keeping your source code intact, including all indentation and other formatting information.

The carefully designed SweetDEV Studio environment includes a rich set of web user interface controls and components (taglib) that enable developers to concentrate on the application business logic and look-and -feel instead of focusing on various technological details.

Simultaneous, 2-way, Source and Visual JSP Editor

Sophisticated Source and Visual JSP editor has the unique ability to let you develop at either source or visual level at the same time ! Imagine the challenge of coming up to speed on an existing project and trying to understand how it is put together. Simply open the project and relevant JSP or Struts configuration file.

Navigate with the visual editors automatically highlights the relevant source providing an intuitive way to understand and editing the application.

Rich set of Web components (tags library)

SweetDEV Studio comes with a complete set of advanced tags. Simply drag and drop those tags to your JSP Editor, use a set of tailored wizards, and let SweetDEV Studio write the source code for you. At any time, you can directly interact at the source code level to apply any kind of modification you want. More than 50 advanced tags including Filter, Table, Picklist, menu, structure, etc.
JSP / Struts debugger

SweetDEV Studio allows Web JSP / Struts debugging from the JSP Editor. Just position a break point in your JSP, launch the application. At the first break point, SweetDEV Studio skips automaticly in the debug perspective. A view shows all the variables used, accesible, threads, break points. You can debug step by step (step-in, step-out, step-over functions). SweetDEV Studio gives you also Struts exception analysis.
Consistency checking

One of the more powerful capabilities of Java is that many common errors can be caught before the program is executed, saving you time and effort in debugging your application. However, checking for errors in web applications presents a unique set of challenges because JSP pages aren’t compiled until runtime, and many errors are caused by configuration files which are usually only read at runtime. Working with a web application framework like Struts makes error diagnosis even more difficult, because the location of the actual error might be very far away from where the error is detected when running the application.

SweetDEV Studio, with the embedded AppXRay technology, builds and keeps update in real time, a repository of all the relations of the different application elements across all the layers of the Web environment. Most Web applications execution errors can be detected and corrected during the development time. You save time and efforts and you increase dramatically your productivity.

Drag-and-drop tags

SweetDEV Studio helps you to use all the tags included in the SweetDEV and Struts taglibs. How easy it is to implement a tag in your application by just drag and drop it in your JSP Editor. The Design view allows you to position your tag at the right place in your JSP Editor. Each tag has its Smart Editor to drive you in the parameters definition. When needed, you have full set of configuration wizards helps the developpers and minimize the syntax errors. SweetDEV Studio gives you a high level graphical interface to build Web GUI interfaces.

Web application intelligence

Imagine a development environment in which the files you’re working on (Java, JSP, Struts config) are aware of their dependencies to all the other layers of a web application. AppXRay makes it real by scanning all the layers and elements of your web application and makes them available throughout the environment. AppXRay maintains a hierarchy of relationships among these artifacts, including a map of all interdependencies among artifacts. The result is superior awareness of all known artifacts and early detection of problems at development time, well before the costly deployment-debug cycle.
